1994-1995 Solar Motorsports Team Presents:

Aggie Beamer

More than 100 students from both colleges worked together on a multi-disciplinary team to design the first Sunraycer. Construction of the vehicle began in the Fall semester of 1994 and continued through the Spring semester of 1995. During the Spring semester, the Sunraycer was given a name: the Aggie Beamer. As race day approached, and with our team growing smaller, completion of the vehicle seemed unachievable.

Finally, with a team of only six members, the finishing touches were added to the vehicle the night before qualifying. As a result of our determination, the team had become stronger. Race officials noticed our Aggie Spirit and the team's togetherness. The six member crew of the Aggie Beamer representing Texas A&M, and indeed all of Texas, earned the Outstanding Teamwork Award.
